Generex/The routine

Five steps

Use one ampoule a night, not three.

Cleanse, then one ampoule — not two — then the eye ampoule, then the cream that matches your ampoule. The sheet mask replaces the ampoule on a night off rather than joining it. With seven ampoules in one range the easy mistake is using several at once, and that is the one worth avoiding.

Cleanse

Washes off sunscreen and make-up without leaving skin tight

Generex makes one cleanser, the Cellular Balancing Biome Cleanser, and everything else depends on it. A harsh foaming wash leaves skin tight and less able to absorb what goes on next; this one is made to leave it comfortable instead. Rinse with lukewarm water, pat dry rather than rub, and move on while your skin is still slightly damp.

Treat

Your ampoule. Use one a night, not two

Pick one ampoule and stay with it. Derma Tox is for firmness, Cellular Rejuvenation for fine lines and renewal, and NR-9GF is the strongest of the three. They all do the same job in the routine, so using two on the same night means paying twice for one result. Two exceptions: the Purifying Solution Ampoule is a short clarifying course that can run alongside another ampoule, and the TRX-Toning Shot is a lighter layer that goes on before your main ampoule, not after.

Eyes

Thinner skin around the eyes needs its own, smaller dose

The Cellular Lifting Eye Ampoule is the only eye product Generex makes, and it fits any routine because there is nothing else in the range competing with it. Half a pump covers both eyes. Tap it along the bone under and beside the eye using your ring finger, which presses least hard of the five. Keep it off the lash line and out of your eyes.

Moisturise

The cream that goes on last and holds the ampoule in

There are two creams and they are alternatives, not layers. The cream goes on last, over your ampoule, and holds it against the skin overnight. The Dermatox Firming Enriched Cream goes with a Derma Tox ampoule; the Cellular Rejuvenation Enriched Cream goes with a Cellular one. Match it to whichever ampoule you chose at step two and you only need one. In Singapore humidity most people need less than they expect — a pea covers a whole face — though an air-conditioned office pushes that back up.

Weekly

A soothing mask on a night you skip the ampoule

The Malgeum Soothing Mask is the night off. Once or twice a week on cleansed skin, fifteen to twenty minutes, then press in what is left rather than rinsing. Skip the ampoule that night and go straight to cream: the point of the mask is to give skin a night without an active on it.

How long does a bottle last?

At two to three pumps a night, a 15 ml Generex ampoule runs roughly six to eight weeks. That is why the Derma Tox and Cellular Rejuvenation ampoules are also sold as four-bottle courses: four bottles is about six months, at a lower price per bottle.

The 50 ml TRX-Toning Shot is the outlier. It is more than three times the volume of a standard ampoule and priced to be used generously over the neck and decolletage rather than rationed across the face.
